Andrew's spirits rose today with the discovery of the bouncy ball machine downstairs. He is apparently getting very good at dropping in the quarter and turning the knob, and so is amassing quite a collection. Today also brought a bit more of an appetite, and with a consistent focus on syrupy breakfast foods, Andrew finished one entire pancake. Hurray, Andrew!
We've hit a speed bump on the road home, however, with a minor infection at the central line (a tube at his chest for administering his various treatments). This will push back their return to South Pasadena for a few days while we wait for his fever to clear up.
In the meantime, it is important now to keep visitors to a minimum. As much as Paul and Cynthia have appreciated all of the support from friends stopping by, Andrew is growing weary of the constant flow of doctors, nurses and well-wishers, and we need to focus on his needs for a calm space to help his healing.
Once this infection is cleared up and they have had a chance to settle in back at home, we will let you know that they are ready again to accept visitors. Until then, know that they are gaining strength from all of your loving comments on this blog and through notes and messages. Please keep checking in here for updates and letting Paul and Cynthia know that you are with them in spirit.
